What Is IIM Points-Based Certification Program?
Learning from experience has long been a key value in education. According to John Dewey, for both the individual learner and society to fully benefit, education must be based on experience - which is always the actual life experience of some individual.
The IIM Points-based certification proves that a person is qualified to work in a certain data/information management discipline based on their academic/professional qualifications, work/professional experiences. They also often come with other kinds of experiential professional learning from self-study, open educational resources, or from formal training and other professional activities outside the classroom. This means that they:
have been practicing in a particular field over a reasonable period.
have been involved in related professional activities for a substantial period.
have passed academic and certification examinations, and meet all the requirements to practice in their chosen disciplines, etc.
This certification path or option offers professional certification in a variety of disciplines in data and information management.
How Does The IIM Points-Based Certification Program (PBCP) Work?
Your eligibility to be certified is based on a point system, which awards credit for education and experience.
All candidates applying for certification evaluation must have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience and a minimum of 40 points to qualify. All points claimed for education must be from IIM recognized institutions of learning.
If a candidate's total qualifying point is below 40, such candidate will be advised on supplementary courses/exams. But all applicants must have 40 or more points and two years of professional experience to become certified under the IIM Points-Based Certification Pathway regardless of their choice of certification major.
How Do I Submit My Application For Certification Evaluation?
The first step to your quest for certification under the points-based pathway can be activated by completing an online Application Form. Please, register your interest by filling the Certification Application Form on the IIM website.
Note:
Completing an application form does not guarantee that you will receive a certification. An invitation to complete the evaluation process for certification will be based on your score and ranking after your assessment by an Assessor, using the IIM comprehensive evaluation scheme.
The certification will be awarded by the Institute of Information Management International Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, United States of America.
IIM Certification/Membership is open to individuals of all job functions, industries, and levels of experience with interest in the management, preservation, storage, security, privacy, and overall management of the data/information lifecycle.
