The Institute of Information Management Africa, USA serves as the International Headquarters of the Institute of Information Management (IIM) Global Professional Network, an international professional membership organisation dedicated to advancing excellence, professional competence, ethical leadership, and best practices in data and information management worldwide.
Registered in Colorado, United States of America, IIM USA provides the international institutional base for the Institute's global mission, supporting professional development, international collaboration, strategic partnerships, and the advancement of professional standards across its network of national and regional chapters.

The Institute brings together a diverse international community of professionals, executives, researchers, educators, policymakers, and organisations working across Data Management, Information Governance, Records Management, Document and Content Management, Archives Management, Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence Governance, and Digital Transformation.

Through its international headquarters and global professional network, IIM promotes the responsible management, protection, governance, accessibility, and strategic utilisation of data and information assets throughout their lifecycle.

Our International Headquarters

As the International Headquarters, IIM USA provides strategic direction, institutional coordination, and international representation for the Institute's worldwide professional activities.

The headquarters supports the development and harmonisation of professional competency frameworks, certification schemes, membership standards, institutional policies, and international partnerships, while facilitating collaboration among IIM's national and regional chapters.

Through this structure, IIM seeks to maintain a consistent international professional identity while supporting regional relevance, local regulatory requirements, and the evolving needs of professionals and organisations across different jurisdictions. IIM USA also serves as a focal point for international stakeholder engagement, professional recognition, research collaboration, and initiatives aimed at strengthening the global data and information management profession.

Vision

The vision of IIM USA is to be recognized and respected as the premier data and information management institution with influence on data and Information Management trends and educational requirements, driving the development of competent professionals’ for the ultimate recognition of information management as a professional field in various organizations globally.

Mission

Our mission is to ensure that data and information management professionals are abreast of current and future challenges associated with managing Information assets in an era of social, mobile, cloud, big data and to develop and maintain a premier information management institution which consistently achieves high standards, certification, competence, and research in delivering value to its membership globally.
The Objects for which the Institute is established are:
  • To established and promote sound information management, research in information preservation, dissemination and security of information in any organisation and thereby enhance discipline, development and information management.
  • To promote and publish study materials /manuals, educational journals and other literary works to support Individuals and Professionals preparing for examinations and development in order to acquire knowledge, skills and technical information that is related to information management and technology.
  • To organize seminars and workshops with a view to keeping beneficiaries abreast of information and development strategies in relation to information management, security of information, adequate and effective information dissemination.
  • To engage in training, re-training, certification of personnel and continuous learning in records, information, data, archives, security and document management for development, and thereby award certificate of proficiency.
  • To organize symposia and conference for human resources and man-power development in information management for public and private sector.
  • To do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
