1. Purpose

The Institute of Information Management (IIM) issues digital badges as a means of professional recognition and public awareness for individuals who have successfully completed IIM programs, certifications, events, or accredited membership.

Digital badges are designed to support visibility, professional identity, and engagement across digital platforms. However, they are not substitutes for official certificates or verification processes.

Important Notice

IIM digital badges are recognition tools only.

They do not constitute proof of certification, professional authorisation, or regulatory approval.

All claims relating to certification, professional status, or compliance must be verified exclusively through the official IIM Certificate Verification Portal.

2. Categories of IIM Digital Badges

IIM may issue digital badges under the following categories:

  • Certified Professional Recognition Badges (e.g. IIM Certified Data Protection Officer – CDPO)
  • Membership and Fellowship Recognition Badges (Professional Members, Fellows, Associates, Graduates)
  • Conference, Training, and Event Participation Badges

These badges are intended for public recognition and awareness only, including use on social media profiles, professional platforms, and personal branding materials.

Employers, regulators, institutions, and other third parties are advised to verify certification status directly via the official IIM/NDPC verification portals.

Official Verification Portals: IIM verification portal | NDPC verification portal

Only verification conducted through the IIM website constitutes official confirmation of certification status.

4. Use of Digital Badges

Holders of IIM digital badges must observe the following:

  • Badges may only be used while certification or membership remains valid
  • Badges must not be altered, misrepresented, or used to imply regulatory authority
  • Badges must not be presented as certificates or legal credentials
  • Continued use of certification-related badges after expiry, suspension, or withdrawal is prohibited
