IIM Policy: International Programs (Travel)

This policy delineates the guidelines and procedures for issuing invitation letters to both Members and Non-members of the institute interested in attending IIM international conventions, training, workshops, conferences, and events.

Individual Members

Individual members interested in attending international programs and in need of an invitation/introduction letter are expected to meet the following criteria:

1.
Express interest in writing to membership@iim-africa.org, attaching a copy of the biodata page of their international passport and specifying the location for visa application/processing.
2.
For new members, completion of registration and accreditation for induction is mandatory. They must belong to the Fellow grade within their first year as accredited members. Other local members below the Fellow grade must have renewed their membership at least once after induction before applying for an invitation letter to attend an international event or pay the full Convention Fee.
3.
Members must be in good standing with the institute, having no history of misconduct or violations of the institute's policies.
4.
Qualified local members in good standing who wish to attend IIM international programs will receive a highly discounted convention/conference fee of USD100 as opposed to USD500 for non-members and unqualified members.
5.
Any member requesting to participate in IIM International Programs must demonstrate financial means to cover their travel, accommodation expenses, and other related expenses during their trips.
6.
Any member requesting a letter of invitation/introduction must fill and submit the guarantor's form, assuring the Institute that they will return to their home country after the program or event.
7.
Applicants/members must comply with all legal requirements, such as filling out a letter of undertaking, obtaining a visa, and adhering to immigration laws applicable to their travels. 8. Existing members/local members, regardless of their chapter / location, are required to register and make necessary payments for the event/conference/program to be eligible for materials, souvenirs, refreshments, breakfast, lunch, etc., as applicable.

Corporate Members

Individual corporate members interested in attending international programs and in need of an invitation/introduction letter are expected to meet the following criteria:
1.
Interested Corporate members must express interest by writing to membership@iim-africa.org, submitting the nomination list of staff to be issued an invitation/introduction letter, attaching a copy of the biodata page of the international passport of the nominated staff, and specifying the location for visa application processing.
2.
Corporate members must have completed their accredited membership registration or be in good standing for the current year.
3.
Intending Corporate members will be required to pay a Conference fee of USD200 per staff/representative nominated.
4.
Corporate members should have no history of misconduct or violations of the institute's policies or any law/regulation.
5.
Corporate members must comply with all stipulated requirements, such as filling and submitting a letter of undertaking, payment of all relevant fees, obtaining required visas for their trips, and complying with all relevant immigration laws and regulations.
6.
Corporate members must have the financial means to cover the travel and accommodation expenses for the nominated staff for the duration of the event.
7.
The names of the nominated staff to be issued an invitation letter must be listed in the List of approved staff of the organization.
8.
Nominated staff must have attended the institute's monthly webinar at least twice before being issued an invitation/introduction letter.
9.
The nomination list presented for the issue of invitation letters will be limited to qualified members of staff of the corporate member.

 **Prescribed Fee for Non-Members**

The standard registration fee for non-members interested in participating in the institute's Annual Conventions/Conferences is USD500 for all locations except the United Kingdom, which is £400. This fee is subject to change without notice by the Institute.
